Raghurai (Village &Post Rajmilan,, Tehsil mada, Dist- Singrauli, Madhya Pradesh):
“Last two years I have been sick. Having medical treatments didn’t help me and I lost almost everything in the treatment. I went to the Village Sarpanch (head) to make BPL card; but he said that patwari doesn’t make it.  I had one ration card before, but now that’s not accepted anymore!
So here I am, I don’t have a ration card, BPL card, food coupon, nothing! I don’t get even 1 kg wheat 1 ltr kerosene to sustain my life! Is this because I’m poor, that no one listens to me? Now, if i have to live, I have no other option but selling my hut.”

Ration Shop owner’s atrocities and corruption in Budher

FacebookStumbleUponGoogle+TwitterEmail

Anita Kushwaha (Village Budher, Post Jamghadi, Tehsil Sarai, Dist- Singrauli, Madhya Pradesh):
“Budher village’s Ration Shop owner doesn’t give us ration following norms. And when he gives, he does the wrong entry on ration card so that he can blackmarket the rations. I went to take kerosene but he refused to give and said, “your name is not on the slip. It is my choice whether I’ll give or not.”
Laxmi Devi Saket, a lady from Barvatola came to get her ration. 35Kg was written on her slip; but the ration shop owner told her that she could only take 5Kg! She protested saying why should she take 5kg when 35Kg is written on her slip. As a result, the angry Ration shop owner started beating her.

Killer coal dust, snatched land, no job or compensation – a company in Bandhaura

FacebookStumbleUponGoogle+TwitterEmail

Vidya Charan Mishra (Village Bandhaura, Post Karsulal, Tehsil Mada, Dist- Singrauli, Madhya Pradesh)

“Many heavy vehicles of Essar from different directions are passing through our village, causing huge pollution. These heavy vehicles carry coal. Dust and smoke fill the air, as a result, many villagers are suffering from asthma and tuberculosis. This heavy traffic is also causing road accidents.

On the other hand, as I reported before, Essar power is also not giving the jobs to displaced people. They had already looted our land and constructed boundary wall around it. People who lost their land can’t even enter its premises. They are paying only 150 rupees labor charges to labor. These labors are being exploited in the plant. Essar power has created many problems. They have also bulldozed small houses and trees of people who were living there for more than half a century!. Nobody is listening. Essar officials are like traitors, they are not listening to us. People are anxious and dying hungry. The population of our village is  5000, but only 100-200 people got the job. They have hired people from other state to work in the plant. I am requesting that the company provides the jobs as soon as possible.”
