“Rich people are getting enlisted under BPL (Below Poverty Line List) , in our Ghora Gram Panchayat. And as a whole, the percentage of non-poors enlisted as BPL is way higher than those who are actually poor.
Some of the people enlisted as BPL have acres of land registered in their names, own tractor, motorbikes, large stock of food grains (rice, wheat) etc. But on the other hand, poor people are not getting in the list. I am requesting the listeners take this to the Govt and eradicate such corruptions.”

“‘Jangal ham chodab nahi, zameen ham chodab nahi, mahur mati hum chodab nahi.’ We will not leave our forest. Until we are given our community forest right, we will not entertain any other conditions from anyone. Friends, we demand that we get our Community Forest Rights under Forest Rights Act. 2006. Those, who are trying to destroy our forest, should stop now and realize that they are doing wrong. and rather know how to save it.”

Mahan Coal ltd was about to come in my village. Company was inspecting the mahan forest area to get hold of the forest.
But friends, truth always wins! We formed a people’s group called Mahan Sangharsh Samiti to save the forest. We have fought together and won as of now. The company was trying to acquire our mahan but we were firm in our stand that we would not give our forest and we haven’t! Now the environment is saved and everybody is breathing in fresh air. We don’t want to give this forest to company.

“Social audit of MNREGA has been done in each block of Bokaro district. Three labour have been chosen from our Gramsabha and they all were doing labor job. These labors are illiterate and can just fulfill their formalities. And the auditors fulfill MNREGA official’s order.
I have visited few villages in Naavadi block where I found that many labors who work under this scheme are fraud. Their Job cards are fraud. Their attendance filings also are false and the blocks pay them. Heavy machinery used in construction work is also affecting labor’s job. The irregularities and corruption mentioned above needs to be corrected!”

“Essar has wronged with me! The Company acquired my land (registry no 569-566) in 2008 and bulldozed it. I didn’t get the job, compensation and plot which were promised to me against my giving away the land. Many times I reported this to the District Magistrate in Public hearings. I also went to the company officials but nobody is listening.
Now the situation is worse and I’m dying hungry. I am reporting this to Radio Sangharsh so that the other people like me get the employment and compensation.”

“Gramsabha has been organized on 3rd Oct 2014 in my Budher village. But the Sarpanch and Village Secretary did not write anything on proposal letter and they didn’t even inform all the villagers. I asked the Sarpanch and Secretary when’s the date for next GramSabha, yet didn’t get any answer from them.
On that day, I was passing by the village school and found that GramSabha was going on. I asked the secretary, “What’s written in the gramsabha proposal?” He told, “Nothing is written yet, I’ll write once I go home!” I demanded that the proposal must be written in the GramSabha and not in anyone’s home. But as usual, they didn’t tell anything.
After all these, they started taking signatures on a blank paper! I said that I wouldn’t sign on a blank paper.
I request you, the Radio Sangharsh listeners to help solve this problem in our village.”

Ramanuj Shah (Village Suhira, Post karsualal, Tehsil mada Dist- Singrauli):
“I’m a small activist of Mahan Sangharsh Samiti. I have been cultivating government revenue land for the past 20 years. Recently, Ramlallu Shah caught and carried me to Bandhaura Police station. In front of munshi and the cops, Ramlallu threatened me saying, ‘if you again cultivate the land, then I’ll cut 6 inches off you!’ Not a single police man did anything. I also went to the SP, but even he didn’t take any action. Seems like because I am a very poor man, nobody is listening to me. I am appealing to Mahan Sangharsh Samiti to help me.”

“I demand that any kind of orders from Supreme Court and High Court must be made public via different effective mediums. Newspapers shouldn’t be the only source of such information.
The news of Supreme Court cancelling 214 Coal blocks, must be spread amongst people. Essar power is still illegally occupying 1.5 acre land in Waidhan. And the collector is not doing anything about it! One can’t file a PIL (Public Interest Litigation) due to lack of documents. Mahan Sangharsh Samiti should raise this issue in Legislative Assembly and Parliament.”

“A school is being constructed by our Grampanchayat in which they are using fresh forest wood from Mahan forest. This wood is being chopped by Deputy Forest Ranger, Forest beat Guard and Budher’s village Sarpanch. We, 10 women went to stop them from cutting the forest. Denying us, they said, ‘do whatever you want to do. We’ll continue.’ When I was clicking photo of the happenings, they even threatened me to kill! They are also using under 18 children for cutting woods from forest.
I appeal to the listeners to take this issue up to Women and Child Development Department and Forest Department to initiate just action.”

I am Kripanath Yadav, from village Amelia, post Karsualal, Thana and Tehsil Mahda, Singrauli district, Madhya Pradesh. I am an activist of Mahan Sangharsh Samiti. On September 26, 2014, India’s highest court cancelled all coal block allocations, of which Mahan was also one. For four years now, all of us who are part of Mahan Sangharsh Samiti have been asserting that the allocation of this coal block is invalid and today this has been confirmed. This is a big victory for us. Mahan Sangharsh Samiti, Singrauli congratulates the Supreme Court judge and also convey our gratitude to honorable Prashant Bhushan because he took on the fight for our freedom and won Mahan for us, fluttering a green flag over it. On this occasion, we heartily welcome Prashant Bhushan and R. M.Lodha. Zindabad!

After hearing the Supreme Court verdict, I felt that something good has happened in our life. I completely believe that the truth always wins. The truth can get pressured but it can never be defeated. I am extremely happy and I wish that if in the future the government wants to organize new auctions for the cancelled coal blocks, they must implement the forest rights act is before the same. If that doesn’t happen, our fight will again continue. Zindabad!
